Although we promise to spend our time in the future writing about the wonderful neighbourhood and the fun we are having here in Gembrook and within this beautiful space. Today is a chance to introduce you to how MH Atelier came to be.
Atelier: a workspace, studio, home to an artisan mentoring their craft.
MH: well that is simple, Maree Howley Interior Design Director Beautiful Room.
Maree, left the family farm to start her career in couture fashion and dress making before establishing one of Melbourne’s most respected, awarded and recognized residential design studios Beautiful Room.
Beautiful Room is also a retail studio, found in Canterbury and Gembrook, which curates beautiful bespoke home wares and furniture.
But MH Atelier was not born from a name or constructed for a commercial gain…MH Atelier is what happens when you write down a dream.
At different times in life I have written myself a letter, scribbled random thoughts in a journal or tried to plan a pathway mapped out before me as a sort of contract agreement with my self. Many times the book has been closed after the relief of the thoughts leave me. Usually the book finds a draw and the body moves on with life. It isn’t until a purge and clean out of our lives that these relics of inner hopes and dreams resurface. As we pack a house or empty out a cupboard we have moments of being reintroduced to our selves. Some times we find these letters and journals and can laugh at our ambitions, be grateful we have transcended our self-loathing or laugh off our turmoil and loves. But once in a while the letter or the journal makes us stop. It makes us take a seat and read, it asks us to determine; are we where we need to be, did we do that thing we promised we would, was this always on the cards.
When we find this insight, can determine what we can do with it.
Imagine the joy of having one of these moments in exactly the right way at exactly the right moment.
